My chicks are two months old and in their new swanky henhouse (which has been given the official name “The Best Little Henhouse in Texas”.). Magic is 8 months old and fuzzy, as are all the others. I’m retired, broke, looking for part time work (unsuccessfully), and enjoying spending time with the horses, the cats, the dog, and the goofy chickens.
Camera’s still non-functional, due to no money to fix it, but that hopefully will change soon. I’d love to get decent pictures of Dragonstar, Magic, and the birds. Oh, and The Best Little Henhouse in Texas. Color even matches the house.
Not much news, but seemed like an update was needed, so here it is. Happy Holidays, y’all!
Thanks for taking the time to keep in touch I already thought that your place was the best Little Horsehouse in Texas. So the Hens are in the right place. Hope you enjoyed a good stretch of Hot weather as I fear the chill is advancing on you. Rug up well and keep plenty of horse blankets at hand.Continue to enjoy living and keep wel.
Ron
It has been a tough summer, but hopefully things are looking up a bit. The hot weather is long gone, we are due our first freezing rain/sleet event tomorrow. We’ve been in a terrible drought, and much of the state has burned in wildfires, making hay prices outrageous (makes me very glad I’ve got minis, not big horses!). I had originally thought about buying a palomino colt that I saw when i went to get Magic, but decided now would not be a good time! I’ve got one of Ladyhawk’s daughters–Kittyhawk, NOT Symphony!–for sale, but there have only been a couple of nibbles, and neither one of them was serious. I don’t have to sell her, so I’m not coming down in price. Poor Symphony has glued herself to Kitty since Ladyhawk is gone, and she would just be totally lost for a while if Kitty were to go. That’s one reason I’m in no hurry to see Kitty go (but the money would come in handy). I’ve said I’ll graze them by the side of the road if I have to, and I meant it (but I sure hope I don’t have to)! Hope everything is going well with you, Ron. You’ve heard enough of my troubles!
We call road Grazing “The Long Paddock” in Australia. I look on it as a community service you are carrying out, keeping the grass down! I truly hope that 2012 is your blessed year, not too much (You have to payback excess) but just a little bit more than you really need. The right person will turn up for Kittyhawk and all will come out well. It was great to get your comment on my new year blog, lifted my heart to hear from an old friend.
Be Well and keep warm and the horses and other critters too!
Happy New Year!
